Take the Guesswork Out of What to Pack, Invest on a Quality Kit to Survive Outdoors Longer
We've all heard about cases of people going on an outdoor adventure and meeting mishaps but not being able to survive outdoors longer for lack of essential supplies. When embarking on a camping or outdoor adventure trip in a far-off location, don't hit the road without packing essential gear. Invest on a quality survival kit that includes basic stuff like medical supplies, flashlight with extra batteries, communications device, water plus purifier to avoid being contaminated by bacteria and viruses, and appropriate clothing items. Put them all in a roomy yet ultralight drybag that can be easily carried but is complete with all the things you'd need in case you encounter an accident or emergency situation.
When camping out, it's also good to bear in mind some first aid and survival tips. Most safety gear and survival kit manufacturers these days throw into their package a handy printed card on wilderness survival instructions such as signalling for help, starting a fire, and so on. Scour stores or online sites for unique and functional all-in-one survival kits that can let every outdoor adventure seeker survive outdoors longer.
Some survival kits are compact and good enough for overnight trips. Other options – like a capacious backpack with strong straps – can carry just about everything from a Swiss army knife, first aid kit with medicines and tissue packs, radio with weather band frequencies, water bottle, flashlight, and even a sweater. Pockets of the backpack may also accommodate energy-supplying protein bars, the better to stave off hunger and let people survive outdoors longer.
When staying outdoors over an extended period of time, it's also important to protect exposed skin from insects like mosquitoes that may be carriers of a deadly virus like dengue and West Nile. A natural insect repellent is ideal for warding away mosquitoes which can detect prey as far as 50 meters away. Don't forget a thermal blanket. There are special blankets in the market made of durable, tear-resistant material, can accommodate two people, and provide comfort and protection from the biting cold. To survive outdoors longer, choose a blanket with special features, like easiness to unfold and refold, and ability to reflect up to 90 percent of radiated body heat.
Check out companies noted for quality safety outdoor gear and preassembled kits that take the guesswork out of putting together a bag of supplies to survive outdoors longer. Don't be caught offguard by an accident or lack of defense from the elements as well as disease-carrying insects. You can make the most of you outdoor adventure and travel/camping experience with quality survival gear that'll help keep you worry-free and safe.

How excited are you for F.E.A.R. 3?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVuxZBr7kMk
I'm extremely f*cking stoked!
The first game was awesome, the second was a great shooter (although a little weaker on the story side), but I'm really excited for the third. Word is they've got John Carpenter helping with the cinematics and Steve Niles working with the story! It's slated for Q3 2010, but they postponed F.E.A.R. 2 so many goddamn times that we'll have to wait and see.
The trailer looked awesome, although I'm really anxious to see more in-game footage. What do you guys think?
Yeah, the expansions were pretty sweet too.
Its going to be awesome, I loved the first two F.E.A.R. games and even the expansions.
I never was scared when playing, but the games had an intriging story line and great gameplay.

Boot Camp for New Dads Shares Tips for Celebrating Father’s Day
“Most fathers believe the less complicated, the better. Guys aren’t really interested in spending a lot of money on Father’s Day in general so oftentimes, they choose activities that are outdoors and free,” noted Bishop.
Dads across the nation have shared their ideas for celebrating Father’s Day:
-
Take in a minor league baseball game.
-
No need for clubs or a golf cart - go Miniature Golfing.
-
Fire up the grill and give dad the spatula – a cookout with all dad’s favorite foods is just the thing.
-
Play Wiffle ball or get a backyard football game going.
-
Plan a picnic at the park or the beach. Be sure to bring baseball gloves and ball, Frisbee or football.
-
Take a family bike ride around the neighborhood or head for the nearest state park or trail.
-
Pack up the gear, some special snacks and go hiking.
-
Head for the nearest river or lake and go canoeing or boating. Or, watch the “big boats” while you stroll the ocean waterfront and enjoy ice cream.
-
Going bananas? Check out the monkeys and other exhibits at your local zoo.
-
Have a pizza party – order in or gather together and make it from scratch. Follow it up with (age appropriate) games like charades, Monopoly, Go Fish, etc.
-
Take in a show. It could be the newest movie in the theaters or a concert or an auto, boat or monster truck show – whatever dad enjoys.
Bishop continued, “Gifts are nice but simply spending time together as a family is what many dads want on Father’s Day.”
Tips, Advice, Instructions and more
Greg Bishop offers strategies from more than 200,000 new dads that have gone through the Boot Camp for New Dads program in his second book, Crash Course for New Dads: Tools, Checklists and Cheat Sheets. His first book, Hit the Ground Crawling, covers work balance, being a dad, caring for a new mom and much more. Both books are available online at www.DadsAdventure.com.
New Dads Learn What to Expect at Boot Camp Workshops
Dads-to-be will be better equipped to face the challenges and opportunities of fatherhood after attending a Boot Camp “hands on” educational workshop. Men attend the class when they are expecting their first baby, and are joined in the workshop by “veterans” who had previously attended and have returned with their two to four-month-old baby in tow. They are able to give the dads-to-be a realistic idea of what to do and what to expect when their first baby comes. For many men attending, it’s their first time holding a baby.
Boot Camp for New Dads
Now celebrating their 18th year, Boot Camp for New Dads is nationally acclaimed as the “Best Practice” for preparing men to be fathers and has been named a U.S. Navy Model Program. Boot Camp for New Dads has prepared more than 200,000 men for fatherhood over the years.
With more than 4.1 million births (National Center for Health Statistics), and approximately 1.5 million men becoming new dads every year, it’s more important than ever for fathers to realize that being a “good provider” is only part of the very central role they have in their children’s lives.
