A Day in the Life Beatles Most Ambitious Song Ever Recorded
When people discuss A Day In The Life Beatles producer George Martin is often the centerpiece of the conversation. Referred to as ‘the fifth Beatle’, Martin was instrumental in helping the Beatles achieve the ever-more complex soundscapes that filled their heads towards the end of their time together as a band.
The culmination of their fascination with pushing the recording studio to the very limits of the possible was the ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album, which presented the Beatles in full-blown psychedelic regalia. The record employed everything from harpsichords to backward-masked lyrical tracks, and it is regarded as one of pop music’s greatest masterpieces of all time.
For the final track on the album, A Day In The Life Beatles members Paul McCartney and John Lennon pulled out all of the stops. Together with Martin, they constructed what can only be described as a song in 2 distinct movements linked by noisy, urgent crescendos. The two Beatles had written a few short verses independently of each other, and as neither of them had found a way to create a full song out of what they had recorded, they decided that the best thing to do would be to incorporate the two into a single track.
The transition between the two different parts of ‘A Day In The Life’ proved to be an early sticking point while recording. As can be heard on the Beatles Anthology, a simple piano bridge was initially inserted, along with the voice of a recording technician counting out the bars that the projected interlude would last. George Martin, at the request of McCartney, wrote a hasty orchestral score and presented it to a 40 piece group to record the 24 bars necessary to make the song whole. In order to make the orchestra sound larger than it actually was, their part was recorded and overdubbed 4 times, creating a cacophony of sound that to this day is enough to disturb the peace.
The raucous final crescendo was capped off by a single piano chord, reverberating into silence. The song is followed by what was originally the run-out track on the record, a mish-mash of Beatle-talk that was cut up and re-arranged by Martin into complete nonsense. Compact disc and cassette releases of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ tacked this track onto the end of ‘A Day In The Life’, and faded it out into eventual silence.

I know that the game's makers have released Sgt. Peppers, Rubber Soul and Abbey Road as downloadable content with a couple other bonus songs in there, but do you know if they are planning to release any more full albums for the game?
Harmonix does not have any plans to release any more DLC. they say its very expensive to extract a beatles song

Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band $17.99 Remember the band Dread Zeppelin? Well, here's a reminder -- they're a band that caused a minor stir in the early '90s when they took Led Zeppelin classics, added a dash of reggae, and were fronted by an Elvis Presley impersonator (who alternated between reciting Zeppelin and Elvis lyrics). It was perhaps only a matter of time until another group came along that mashed together two other renowned rock acts, and while Zeppelin and Elvis aren't exactly universes apart musically, the Beatles and Metallica are -- which makes the emergence of Beatallica much more of a curiosity. And somehow the band (whose members go by such colorful nom de plumes as Jaymz Lennfield, Grg Hammettson, Kliff McBurtney, and Ringo Larz) mixes and matches Beatles and Metallica riffs/lyrics pretty flawlessly -- as evidenced throughout 2007's Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band. First off, it must be stated that it is absolutely eerie how much Lennfield is able to replicate James Hetfield's manly bark (it really does sound as if it's the actual Metallica singer throughout). Some of the tracks are a bit silly -- such as "A Garage Dayz Nite" and "Ktulu (He's So Heavy)" -- but you have to give the quartet credit for how they craftily merge "Enter Sandman" and "Taxman" together, as..."Sandman." The next time you're going to party with headbanging pals, put on Sgt. Classic Rock - What is It?
For most generations, the term 'classic rock' is familiar. But there was a time when the word 'rock-n-roll' music wasn't in America's vocabulary and certainly not classic rock.
The term classic rock came about due to the radio stations and their programmers who designed a large playlist of songs ranging from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. Taking these songs, these programmers would also then integrate a number of current releases and thus call it 'classic rock'.
The idea came about back when The Beatles groundbreaking album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, came out, which created a love for all of the tracks on the record rather than just one song. The AM and FM station programmers realized that they could play more than top singles and still keep their audiences attention. They could also mix up hits and non-hits to keep their listeners intrigued.
Radio has evolved over the years in choosing which songs to play, when and how. In the late 1960s and 1970s, choosing songs for the air was done by a disc jockey. This was followed by a more commercially oriented variant called album-oriented rock (AOR), or "album rock", which emerged in the mid- and late 1970s. This format concentrated on album cuts as well, but on a more structured, playlist-oriented basis.
By the 1970s and early 1980s, Album Oriented Rock would continue to be popular, but by the end of the 1980s, albums were mostly being replaced by compact discs. At this time, station playlists largely stopped keeping up with developing musical trends (including New Wave music), and "album rock" evolved into "classic rock radio".
This is where we get to the term "Classic Rock". The concept is taken from older radio show formats in that music from the past is played. While there isn't any consistent 'classic rock playlist' due to the fact bands and songs will come in and out of style, or that in some regions there will be favorites that are unique to that region. And sometimes, newer recordings by the format's core performers will occasionally be showcased. Anything can affect a playlist.
In addition, radio stations would then take this play list and add in songs and artists somewhat marginally associated with the classic rock radio era. Depending on the station, some will combine classic rock radio format with other formats, including modern rock in an attempt to increase popularity. The hybrid of classic rock and modern rock radio is also referred to as active rock.
In general, classic rock formats typically include selections from British hard rock and progressive rock bands, American 1970s rock bands and solo artists, and some material from late-1960s rock acts. In many areas, southern rock acts form a significant subset of classic rock playlists as well.
Some classic rock playlists also include some of the hard-rock and heavy metal bands of the 1970s and 80's and some amount of new wave selections. Some of the bands that are commonly associated with classic rock music are the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Queen, and the Eagles. Though some of the artists played on classic rock music stations are still actively recording music, only their earlier hits are represented on the airwaves. Some classic rock music stations also include popular hard rock and metal bands from the 1980s, such as Guns 'n Roses and Metallica. Recently, some classic rock music stations have also begun to incorporate 1990s bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains into their rotation.
Who tends to gravitate toward listening to classic rock? Typically it is most popular among people who were young when the music first came out; those who recall hearing the song for the first time and what it was they were doing in their life. Hearing classic rock then takes the listener back to another place in time and maybe to a fond memory.
