Finding Classic Cars
Classic cars, especially the genuine type are not that easy to find. However, there are quite a number of auctions where one can find them. For instance, the Muscle Car auctions offer a variety of classic muscle cars. These include Corvettes, Mustangs, GTO as well as Camaros. What are your thoughts on replacing alto clarinet reeds with alto sax reeds?
I am a clarinetist and I play a lot of alto clarinet, but I always have issues with my alto clarinet reeds, simply due to the fact that there are no quality reeds on the market. The best I have played on are Rico Royals (in my opinion better than vandoren traditionals), but they are still lacking in tone and articulation, and they don't seal to the mouthpiece great.
What are the exact differences between sax and clarinet reeds? I think that sax reeds are longer and wider, but I am not sure. If so, how does this affect the sound of the instrument? Are the reed strengths the same? I know some sax reeds like the V12 and Reserve Classics were originally clarinet reeds then adapted to sax, so would these reeds work best? If it helps anyone answer my question, I play on a C**, and I also have a C*.
I believe you can use tenor sax reeds on a bass clarinet, alto sax reeds on an alto clarinet, and soprano sax reeds on a soprano clarinet, but you cannot use clarinet reeds on saxaphones. I play the soprano clarinet and I used to use Rico Royal reeds and, I too, wasn't really impressed by the quality. The good ones played well, but there were only about 5 good ones in a box. Then I started using La Voz reeds. In my opinion they're much better. I know that they have alto clarinet reeds too, so maybe you should try them. You might like them better.
