defragmenting files issue. I get a pop-up saying CHKDSK is schedued to run when I go to defragment.?
I press RUN in the pop-up and nothing happens. It's the same whether I want to just analize or actually defragment. I haven't been able to defragment for quite a while because of this issue.
It is because you have not done an error check on your disk for a long time (I assume) and defrag doesn't want to run on a disk that may have errors.
Reboot your PC to let chkdsk to run and then run defrag after that.
In this case the system is looking out for its health and not letting you do a defrag when it will potentially corrupt the system.
