Using Antler Lamps For Rustic Style Interior Design
Antler lamps are an excellent way to create western decor. So much more than a way to light your home, antler lamps add character to your home. If you own a rustic cabin or southwest style home, the rustic appeal of antlers with their beautiful shapes and variations in natural color will give your area the unique old west feel you are hoping to create.
Ranch owners as well as those designing contemporary houses have chosen antler lamps for decades as the beautiful rustic lighting to enhance their ranch style home decor. Because of the smooth shape of antler lamps and chandeliers there is a unique charm in the antlers themselves that wonderfully accompanies any variety of western furniture. There is something distinctive about antler lamps that ties in every element and gives off a sophisticated country feel within the room. Antler lamps have a unique quality about them that distinctly enhances rustic beauty in any environment.
Antler lamps also compliment many other rustic elements in home decorating. In the Northwest or "north woods" antlers may be added to snow shoes and complimented with rawhide lamp shades to use as fabulous wall sconces. The light colored wood and rawhide lacing of the shoe, combined with the leather binding and pleasant glow of the rawhide shade, make it a wonderful match. No matter if you decide to adorn your antler lamp with southwestern light rawhide shades or western style dark rawhide lampshades, the choice is yours and the effect will be stunning.
Smaller antler chandeliers are sometimes fashioned from whitetail deer antlers while large chandeliers may have many tiers of huge elk antlers. Weather your decorating space is large or small an antler chandelier will compliment western home furnishings.
In Jackson Hole, WY the town's square is embellished with arches created from Elk antlers. It is certainly unique and you can create the same spirit with antler lamps. Small lamps are created from whitetail deer antlers while large light fixtures such as chandeliers may have tiers of elk antlers with rawhide lampshades. One of the most popular lamps is created with moose antlers, recognizable with their beautiful dark palms and dark rawhide lamp shades.
Every year, groups and associations such as the Boy Scouts will find the prized sheds. If you ever discover antler sheds in the wild, it is an amazing occurrence. Antler lamps create that same style in your home and can change your home's ambiance in a beautiful way.
Antlers are acquired in varying qualities that are valued like rare coins. The best quality is awarded an "A" grade. The grading system, indirectly, has to do with the how much time the sheds lie exposed on the ground before found. The longer they are left exposed, the more they break down. New antler sheds are dark brown in color. Sheds that are not discovered quickly will begin to bleach in the sun until they become a chalky white. Another reason they loose their value is because of chew marks from small rodents and stains from wet ground or moss.
There are also different techniques for making the antler lamps themselves. Some lamp makers use glue to hold the antlers together. Others may fasten them together with rawhide thong for a rustic Indian look. And some of the most attractive antler lamps may include a combination of being glued, drilled and screwed together, with the holes sealed for a natural look. Better quality lamps will almost always include rawhide lamp shades.
Each antler is a little different than any other, so each antler lamp is a unique treasure and works wonderfully for rustic lighting. Try antler lamps with rawhide lamp shades in your home to create true rustic charm and to give it that warm, inviting look and feel that everybody loves.

In Darkness Let Me Dwell $17.99 John Dowland was a 16th century composer who laid the ground work for both "art song," generations of British Isles folk music and chamber music. His songs are gems of construction, appealing to the "classical" or Early Music ear as well as the listener raised on folk, blues or pop song-forms, wedding chamber music subtlety with heartfelt directness. IN DARKNESS is a unique realization of Dowland's songs, in that they are interpreted by a group consisting of performers from classical and jazz backgrounds. British wind player John Surman has been noted for his unfettered playing, influenced by both Irish and Nordic motifs; here, he achieves a delightful oboe-like tone on soprano saxophone. Surman's bass clarinet adds a gently haunting and 20th century touch to the proceedings. Double-bassist Barry Guy has played with and composed for improvising ensembles large and small--he can wail with abandon, yet his sensitive bowing is perfectly integrated here. Maya Homburger has plays superbly spare, evocative violin, Stephen Stubbs' lute is delicate, subdued and courtly, and the tenor voice of John Potter captures both the tensile strength and the incredible melancholy present in Dowland's songs.REVIEWS:New York Times (6/18/00, p.31) - "...[IN DARKNESS LET ME DWELL] is a rarity: a crossover project that is both defensible and listenable...Mr. Potter and company have added new instruments to old in readings balanced between the orthodox and the radical..." |

Moving his family into their new home, tech writer Victor Robinson (John Savage) can't shake the feeling that someone is already living there. Well, not exactly "living"; thanks to an ancient Edison invention activated by Victor's autistic daughter, the family begins picking up disturbing echoes of a murder that occurred there eight years ago. Even worse, one of the Robinsons' neighbors is a child killer, who will strike again unless the spirits of his past victims can make themselves known. Rookie homicide detective Chris Malloy (Matthew Prater) and Detective Murphy MacCasey (Mark Colson) are working the midnight shift when they walk into one of the grizzliest crime scenes they've ever encountered. Fight Darkness with Xenon Flashlight
A new generation flashlight that created much hype in the market are xenon flashlights. You must be wondering that we just had LED flashlights swarming the market and promising to give better service than ordinary flashlights, then what is so nice about the Xenon ones? Since technology is growing by leaps, there is no stop to new products being released in the market. All of them have their own advantages and disadvantages as well, but mostly propose to have better quality of service than previous ones.
Well the fact is that Xenon flashlights use Xenon bulbs instead of LED bulbs. The Xenon bulbs use the technology of incandescent bulbs itself but instead of the gas chamber being filled with Argon gas, there is now Xenon gas. A small tungsten wire inside the bulb is used to product light when it is heated up. Rechargeable batteries do the power supplies for the tough Xenon bulbs. This is the advantage over regular flashlights where you would need to replace the batteries after a short period of use. Just like your mobile phone or your camcorder, you can just plug in to recharge your Xenon flashlight and it is as good as new again. Also, the battery life is around 3000 to 3500 hours, lasting long enough to cover a few nights at a stretch during an outdoor expedition.
The fact that these are Xenon flashlights, they produce ultra bright light. These are best fit for night time activities and sports like camping, fishing, hunting. Even for policemen and army who need to patrol in the night, these flashlights prove to be extremely helpful. Since the range of radiation is almost a kilometre, this is a good enough distance to feel safe. These give out around 24W of power output of white light which is very bright. In fact these lights are so stable that these are used for patrolling cars as well in many areas.
Normally, a Xenon flashlight would last for around 15000 hours but it certainly depends on how it has been used and maintained. For instance, correct recharging of the batteries itself is a major factor in deciding the longevity of rechargeable flashlights. Mostly these flashlights are also waterproof since the powerful white lights can be very well used to see things under water. These are mostly used in water sports and scuba diving activities.
Flashlights can be used for any reason and not necessarily for only outdoor sports or water sports. Even during black outs, you would need flashlights. If you need to take your pet out regularly in the night, you need flashlights. In fact, it is good to keep a flashlight handy in your car just in case you needed it if your car broke down somewhere in the night. We do not realise these small necessities in life until one day when we have no other choice.
So make the best use of the great winter discounts going on in the internet world these days and go for good deals of Xenon flashlights online.
