If I'm not supposed to buy comics online, then where on Earth do I get something like Avengers #1?
I am trying to buy Avengers #1 or #2 or Xmen #1, and I can never find them anywhere.
Avengers #1 and X-Men #1 have been reprinted many times over the years, and Marvel tends to keep both in print in one format or another (Essential Avengers, Essential X-Men, Marvel Masterpieces, etc.). You're free to buy whatever you want online, but Marvel is actively working to make it almost impossible to read or download either of the books you've mentioned for free.
Reprints of Avengers #2 is a bit harder to find reprints of than Avengers #1 or X-Men #1, but it is included in the collections I mentioned above. I may as well mention that the first volume of X-Men (which started in 1963) was cancelled in 1969, and it was a new volume of X-Men (which started in 1975) that led to the various X-books currently being published. Either way, Giant-Size X-Men (1975) and X-Men #1 are available in various reprint formats.
